After graduating in 1988, I took my first job at a vet clinic in Sidney, on Beautiful Vancouver Island on the west coast of Canada. Over the next 35 years, I worked at, owned or managed hospitals in every province of Western Canada, as well as Washington state. When I finished my career, I returned to Sidney and began writing about animals and the people who surround them.
